Scarpinata di Primavera in Siena 2019: Sunday, March 24
The appointment with the Scarpinata di Primavera in Siena 2019 is for Sunday, March 24. This traditional event is held this year for the 44th time and provides the opportunity to participate in a competitive race of 16.342 Km. and a non competitive walk of 7,100 Km. There are also competitions for the youth categories. The event will also take place in case of bad weather.

People of all ages can participate in the Scarpinate di Primavera 2019. The event, in fact, provides a competitive race and a non-competitive walk.
The participants will meet at 08.00 in Siena, near the Piscina dell’Acquacalda located in Via Fausto Coppi.
Competitive race of 16,342 Km.
The competitive race of 16.342 Km. will start and will arrive in Via Fausto Coppi. The race will wind through Via Banchi, Via delle Province, the “streets” of Cassia Nord, Pecorile, Pian del Lago, Montalbuccio, Casciano, delle Coste, del Petriccio, Belriguardo, Via Dante, Via Tolomei and Via R. da Capua. The competitions of the various youth categories will be held inside the velodrome.
The starting time of the race is at 09.30. The maximum time to cover the route of 16.342 Km is 3 hours. The event is valid as a second test of the Uisp Road Racing Championship and for the Grand Fondo Uisp – Chianti Banca Trophy.
If paid by March 22nd, the registration fee is 8 Euro for Senior Categories and 5 Euro for Youth Categories. Registration will also be accepted on the morning of the race up to 10 minutes before the start.
Non-competitive walk of 7.100 Km.
The 7.100 Km. walk is open to all and consists of a beautiful walk around Siena. This route will also have its starting and finishing points in Via Fausto Coppi, near the Acquacalda swimming pool. The walk will proceed through the same path as the competitive race up to the Cassia Nord Road, but then continue through Strada del Petriccio, Belriguardo, Via Dante, Via Tolomei and Via da Capua.
The departure time is set at 09.00. Being a simple walk, the participants are invited to respect the usual regulations of the road. The route coverage, in fact, does not provide for traffic control and the intervention of the police.
If paid by March 22nd, the registration fee is 3 Euro, while on the morning of the walk the fee will be 5 Euro.

To make some examples, the Hotel Italia in Viale Camillo Benso di Cavour can be an excellent accomodation outside the limited traffic area and during the morning, to obtain the necessary energy before the race, the hotel offers a breakfast for champions!
The welcoming Garden Hotel in Via Custoza, however, may be the best solution for teams of athletes who need ample parking and for those who, after the race, want to reward themselves with some typical specialties of Siena combined with a good glass of wine.
